Wine-growing tradition from Markelsheim

The wine-growing tradition in the officially recognised wine and health resort Markelsheim, about 6 kilometres away from Bad Mergentheim, is over 950 years old. Wine-growing has been documented since 1096.

The Markelsheim shell limestone not only houses fossil shells, it also forms the basis for producing top wines. Both qualities are combined in the special quality wine labels to create a striking and distinct business card. Be won over by the hospitality of the place in the cosy wine taverns and the rustic open-door wineries.
